Using distilled water for your CPAP therapy is highly recommended, as tap water tends to leave behind hard deposits, or can create more work for your CPAP equipment. Outside of that, using tap water with your heated humidifier, while not inherently dangerous, can lead to dangerous bacterial growth in your CPAP water chamber if bacteria pathogens are present in the impurities of your hard water, so using some kind of water filter is always recommended.

How to Change Your Filters

To change your filter cartridge, you'll need to follow these instructions:

1. Make sure the pitcher is empty before beginning.
2. Remove the lid from the pitcher.
3. Locate the filter cartridge at the bottom of the basin. It should have a round pull tab attached to the top of it.
4. Grab the pull tab and pull up. The cartridge should become loose and you can then remove it from the pitcher.
5. Replace the cartridge with a new one.
6. Replace the lid.
