Tips
MoreDetermining Battery Run Time for Your Machine
Power requirements will vary greatly from one PAP machine to the next and with different prescribed pressure settings. We recommend testing your sleep therapy device with the battery bank prior to depending on it during power outages or trips off the grid.
Estimated Battery Run Times
Run times are calculated assuming no humidity is being used, and no heated tubing is activated.
AirMini:
- 8 cmH2O runs up to 20 hours
- 12 cmH2O runs up to 18 hours
- 16 cmH2O runs up to 14 hours
AirSense 10:
- 6-8 cmH2O runs up to 16 hours
- 10-12 cmH2O runs up to 14 hours
- 14-16 cmH2O runs up to 10 hours
DreamStation Auto:
- 6-8 cmH2O runs up to 18 hours
- 10-12 cmH2O runs up to 15 hours
- 14-16 cmH2O runs up to 11 hours
System One:
- 6-8 cmH2O runs up to 18 hours
- 10-12 cmH2O runs up to 15 hours
- 14-16 cmH2O runs up to 11 hours
Connecting Your Machine
You will need a DC adaptor cable (sometimes called a car charger) to connect your CPAP machine to the EXP96 Pro. To connect your CPAP machine to the EXP48 Pro, you'll need to follow these steps:
- Connect the lighter plug adapter end of the cable into the EXP96 Pro.
- Connect the other end of the cable into your CPAP machine.
- The battery should begin providing power to your CPAP automatically.
Extending the Life of Your CPAP Battery
- Extend battery power by turning off humidifier and heated tubing.
- Using a humidifier reduces battery run time by 50 - 60%.
- Using a humidifier and heated tubing reduces battery run time by 70-80%.
- BiPAP machines require about 20% more power than CPAP.
- Travel machines use less power than a standard machine and are ideal for frequent travelers or power outages.
- If battery life is limited and you will not have access to power for several days, talk to your doctor about temporarily limiting CPAP usage to 4-6 hours per night.
Flying With Your CPAP Battery
At 153.6 Wh, the EXP48 Pro meets FAA/TSA requirements for air travel, with limitations for the number of batteries allowed on the plane and how it is packed into your luggage.
- This battery must be brought onto the plane with your carry-on bag.
- It cannot be packed into your checked luggage.
- All battery terminals should be covered to prevent a short circuit.
- Passengers are also allowed to carry up to 2 high capacity (101-160 Wh) lithium-ion batteries for personal use, including the EXP48 Pro.
- Most airlines will honor these rules, but it’s best to double-check with your specific airline before your flight.

FAQs
MoreWhat makes the EXP48 Pro Lithium Ion Battery Bank stand out from other CPAP battery options?
The EXP48 Pro Lithium Ion Battery Bank stands out due to its extended lifespan, offering up to 5,000 charge cycles, which is 10 times longer than many other batteries on the market. It can provide power for up to four nights on a single charge, charges three times faster than standard lithium-ion batteries, and is FAA and TSA compliant for air travel. This battery also features multiple charging options, including rapid-charge USB ports and a DC car charger, making it highly versatile and convenient for travel and off-grid use.
Can I use my CPAP humidifier with the EXP48 Pro battery?
Using the built-in humidifier with your CPAP machine while on battery power will drain the battery very quickly. While the battery shouldn't auto shut off or surge when using your humidifier, know that the battery will likely not be able to power a full night of therapy while the humidifier is running.
Is the EXP48 Pro Lithium Ion Battery Bank compatible with my CPAP machine?
The EXP48 Pro Lithium Ion Battery Bank is compatible with a wide range of CPAP machines, including the ResMed AirSense 11, ResMed AirMini, ResMed AirSense 10, Philips DreamStation I and II, Respironics System One 60, Resvent iBreeze, Breas Z1/Z2, and more. To connect your CPAP machine to the EXP48 Pro, you will need to use your device's specific DC charger, which is not included with the battery.
Can I take the EXP48 Pro battery on an airplane?
Yes, you can take up to two EXP48 Pro batteries with you in your carry-on luggage aboard domestic flights within the US. Each battery has a capacity of 153.6 watt hours, which is below the FAA limit of 160 watt hours per battery. The EXP48 Pro also comes with covered ports and a protective sleeve, which should help you avoid any trouble getting through airport security.
Are EXP Pro batteries eligible for HSA/FSA reimbursement?
Because CPAP batteries are not medically necessary for the machine to operate, it will vary from plan to plan whether batteries like this one are eligible for FSA/HSA reimbursement. Be sure to check with your FSA administrator to see if you can use your FSA/HSA funds on a CPAP battery like this one.
