Designed to ease the discomfort that often arises when breathing in pressurized air, the V-Com CPAP Comfort Accessory from SleepRes makes adjusting to CPAP therapy so much easier. When placed between your mask and CPAP hose, this device softens the flow of pressurized air as you inhale while maintaining air pressure when you exhale. This revolutionary product makes CPAP more comfortable, improves compliance rates, and is changing the CPAP game altogether!

Softens the Flow of Air Without Decreasing Effectiveness

The V-Com was made to fit right between your CPAP mask and tubing. It resembles a wall-like structure with four holes, which softens airflow when you breathe in but maintains the air pressure when you exhale. This design boosts comfort and makes it much easier to adjust to CPAP therapy!

How Much Resistance V-Com Creates to Airflow

V-Com was designed to make as little change to your actual therapy pressure as possible. Here's a brief overview showing how minor the effects are at various therapy pressures:

  • 0.3 cm Water - 20 LPM (roughly 5 cmH2O)
  • 0.6 cm Water - 30 LPM (roughly 10 cmH2O)
  • 1.1 cm Water - 40 LPM (roughly 15 cmH2O)
  • 1.7 cm Water - 50 LPM (roughly 20 cmH2O)

Reduces Air Leaks

By reducing your CPAP air pressure during inhalation, the V-Com reduces the risk of air leaks from your mask and your mouth. A recent study found that this product reduced the need for chinstraps and mouth tape by 85%.* Many people have also reported that this product helps to reduce your chances of swallowing your CPAP air as you sleep.

Decreases the Noise Level Caused by Airflow

People who have used the SleepRes V-Com have reported that it significantly improves the volume of air as it flows from your CPAP machine and into your mask. As a result, the V-Com helps you get a peaceful night of sleep!

Approved for Use With CPAP, APAP, and BiPAP Machines

This device can be paired with Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), Automatic Positive Airway Pressure (APAP), and BiLevel Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP). V-Com has not yet been tested on Adaptive Servo-Ventilation (ASV) or Average Volume-Adjusted Pressure Support (AVAPS) devices.

Makes Following Through With CPAP Therapy Easier

If you are new to CPAP therapy, adapting to your new routine can be difficult. But by addressing common complaints often associated with CPAP therapy, such as air pressure-related discomfort and noise level, the SleepRes V-Com makes it much easier to stick with your treatment plan. In fact, one recent study found that people who use V-Com with their CPAP are significantly more likely to continue their treatment past the 90-day mark.*

Makes It Easier to Adjust to Therapy

Learning to sleep with a CPAP machine can be difficult, but V-Com makes it much easier to stick with your treatment plan. One study found that people who use V-Com with their CPAP are more likely to continue their treatment past the 90-day mark. 96% of new sleep apnea patients said they preferred using V-Com.

Softens the Feeling of Airflow

The V-Com was made to fit right between your CPAP mask and tubing. This small device softens airflow when you breathe in but maintains the air pressure when you exhale.

Prevents Air Leaks

By reducing your CPAP air pressure during inhalation, the V-Com reduces the risk of air leaks from your mask and your mouth. A recent study found that this product reduced the need for chinstraps and mouth tape by 85%.

Reduces Air Swallowing

CPAP-related gas is no fun, but V-Com makes it easy to avoid. Many customers have reported that this device helps to reduce their chances of swallowing extra air during CPAP therapy.

Decreases Noise

People who have used the SleepRes V-Com have reported that it significantly improves the sound of air as it flows through your mask. This is a must have item for light sleepers who struggle to fall asleep. Research suggests that V-Com reduces noise by 20%.

No Prescription Needed

Traditionally, if you were struggling to adjust to your CPAP pressure settings, you would need to make a trip to the doctor to get a lower pressure prescription. With V-Com there is no prescription needed.

How It Works

More

Insert the Device

V-Com sits right between your CPAP mask and hose. Simply turn off your CPAP machine, remove the V-Com from its packaging, attach one end to your mask tubing, and the other end to your CPAP hose. This creates a slight barrier between your hose and mask.

Inhale

When the V-Com is in place, pressurized air rushes through your hose and toward your mask, just like it normally would. However, it slows down a bit when it meets the plastic barrier inside the V-Com. Eventually this air passes through the V-Com via the four holes that are drilled into the device. By the time you breathe in this air, its lost some of it's pressure, making it easier to inhale without swallowing your CPAP air.

Exhale

As you breathe out, the old air that you push out of your lungs moves into your mask. As this air moves, it hits the barrier of the V-Com device, causing some of it to build up in your mask. As you exhale, this extra air gets pushed back into your airway where it mixes with the muffled air coming from your CPAP machine. Once combined, this pocket of air acts as a brace to keep your tongue, soft palate, and other soft tissues from blocking your airway.

Compatibility

More

Mask Compatibility

V-Com is compatible with all standard sized masks with traditional, front-facing hose connections.

It is not compatible with masks that have top-of-the-head hose connections, such as the AirFit F30i and DreamWear masks.

As a general rule, V-Com will work best with masks that connect directly to the CPAP hose without using a short tube. The greater the distance between the V-Com and your face, the less effective it will be, as the air has more distance to travel and become turbulent again.

Machine Compatibility

V-Com has been approved for use with CPAP, APAP, and Bi-Level machines. This includes standard sized and travel machines. However, this device has not been tested with Adaptive Servo Ventilation (ASV) machines.

Placing Your V-Com

When setting up your V-Com, keep in mind that its exact positioning depends on the type of CPAP mask and hose. In some cases, it may be helpful to purchase a short tube extender. Some reviewers have noted that placing your V-Com in the wrong position may make your CPAP machine sound louder.

Pressure Settings

The V-Com tends to be more effective at moderate to higher pressure settings, starting at 10 cm of water. People who require a lower pressure setting may feel they cannot get enough air. In some cases, you may need to slightly increase your CPAP pressure while using V-Com.
