FAQs

More

Is the AirSense 11 Filter the same as Airsense 10?

The AirSense 11 air filter has a different design and is not interchangeable with the AirSense 10 filter.

What's the difference between hypoallergenic CPAP filters and standard filters?

The main difference between hypoallergenic and standard CPAP filters is that hypoallergenic filters are finer and capture more dust. They also capture smaller, finer dust particles than standard filters are capable of.

Hypoallergenic filters are better for those with frequent allergy symptoms, people with pets, and people who are allergic to polyester.

Standard Air Filter:

  • Material: Polyester, non-woven
  • Efficiency: >75% for ~7 micron dust

Hypoallergenic Air Filter:

  • Material: Acrylic & polypropylene fibers in a polypropylene carrier
  • Efficiency: >98% for ~7-8 micron dust, >80% for ~0.5 micron dust

When should I replace my filter?

In general, you should replace your AirSense 11 CPAP Filter every 3 to 6 months. We recommend inspecting the filter every 2 weeks and using your finger to lightly flick the filter to remove some of the dust and allergens trapped in it.

If you’re sensitive to airborne allergens or own pets, you’ll likely need to replace your filter every 3 months. If you’re not sensitive to airborne allergens or don’t own pets, your filter is likely to last much longer and should be replaced around 6 months of use.

How to change your AirSense 11 Filter?

To change the filter on your AirSense 11 CPAP machine, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off your machine and disconnect it from its power source.
  2. Locate the filter compartment on the back of the machine.
  3. When looking at the rear of your AirSense 11, the filter compartment will be on the lower right-hand side opposite the humidifier chamber.
  4. Open the compartment and remove the old filter.
  5. Insert the new filter and close the compartment.
  6. Reconnect your machine to its power source.

Can I clean my AS11 Filter?

Your AirSense 11 filter is disposable, not reusable, so cleaning is neither required nor recommended. Inspect your filter every 2 weeks and gently flick it with your finger to remove any loose dust trapped in the filter. So long as you replace the filter every 3 to 6 months, this is sufficient maintenance.
