Determining Battery Run Time for Your Machine

Power requirements will vary greatly from one PAP machine to the next and with different prescribed pressure settings. We recommend testing your sleep therapy device with the battery bank prior to depending on it during power outages or trips off the grid.

Estimated Battery Run Times

Run times are calculated assuming no humidity is being used, and no heated tubing is activated.

Connecting Your Machine

You will need a DC adaptor cable (sometimes called a car charger) to connect your CPAP machine to the EXP96 Pro. To connect your CPAP machine to the EXP48 Pro, you'll need to follow these steps:

Connect the lighter plug adapter end of the cable into the EXP96 Pro.
Connect the other end of the cable into your CPAP machine.
The battery should begin providing power to your CPAP automatically.

Extending the Life of Your CPAP Battery

Extend battery power by turning off humidifier and heated tubing.
Using a humidifier reduces battery run time by 50 - 60%.
Using a humidifier and heated tubing reduces battery run time by 70-80%.
BiPAP machines require about 20% more power than CPAP.
Travel machines use less power than a standard machine and are ideal for frequent travelers or power outages.
If battery life is limited and you will not have access to power for several days, talk to your doctor about temporarily limiting CPAP usage to 4-6 hours per night.

Flying With Your CPAP Battery

At 153.6 Wh, the EXP48 Pro meets FAA/TSA requirements for air travel, with limitations for the number of batteries allowed on the plane and how it is packed into your luggage.

This battery must be brought onto the plane with your carry-on bag.
It cannot be packed into your checked luggage.
All battery terminals should be covered to prevent a short circuit.
Passengers are also allowed to carry up to 2 high capacity (101-160 Wh) lithium-ion batteries for personal use, including the EXP48 Pro.
Most airlines will honor these rules, but it’s best to double-check with your specific airline before your flight.
